Karl Dickey has been a fixture in Palm Beach County and resident of the district since his arrival here at the age of 14. During his early years and throughout his life he always had an entrepreneurial spirit and a strong commitment to the environment.
Karl has been married to his incredible wife Jodi for over 13 years and still lives on the same street he moved to in 1979.
Originally registered as a Republican, Karl tired of the causal political promises put forth by political candidates who would render opposite votes once the candidate he supported took office. In 1996 Karl chose to put principle over strategy and registered as a Libertarian; finding that it took the best factions of the Republican and Democratic parties.
Karl Dickey has been a regular visitor and speaker at Palm Beach County Commission meetings. He will often praise the commissioners for the responsible votes they take and more often, criticize the wasteful spending and poor decisions seen so far this decade. Although it is often difficult to say no to requests for public tax dollars, Mr. Dickey does not suffer from such a morally dubious condition and will always work to keep money in Palm Beach County citizens hands, rather than work to give it to an unconstitutional use. Mr. Dickey will not be influenced by special interests, lobbyists, or developers.
Karl was an integral member of the effort to establish term limits for our Palm Beach County commissioners - an effort that succeeded overwhelmingly with over 70% of the public voting for this measure. Mr. Dickey has assisted in passing state legislation to strengthen homeowner's property and individual rights. Florida now has the strongest anti-eminent domain laws in the country. He was successful in removing the Sunday morning alcohol ban in unincorporated Palm Beach County. Since becoming chairman of the Libertarian Party of Florida in 2007 he has been working mostly with state legislators to have them vote for more individual freedom and financial responsibility. He expects to continue this success with your help on his campaign for the Palm Beach County Commission.
Karl Dickey feels you want and deserve a county government that respects you as an individual; as someone that can make your own plans, take responsibility for yourself, and that you can solve your own problems if allowed to do so. He knows that you will also be compassionate and giving to those that are not as fortunate as yourself and will give of yourself or to a local charity to help those in need.
Karl feels that most people in their private, non-governmental affairs deal with each other on the libertarian premise of mutual respect.
We should hold government to the same standard. Protect us and our rights, and give us the respect we deserve.
More important than Karl Dickey and his views, are having you let him know what is important to you and expressing your views. Hopefully he will see you on the campaign trail

In order to get power and retain it, it is necessary to love power; but love of power is not connected with goodness but with qualities that are the opposite of goodness, such as pride, cunning, and cruelty. – Leo Tolstoy
